President Trump: Truth Social Post
President Trump wrote that just two weeks ago, China was facing a severe economic crisis. He attributes this to the strict tariffs his administration imposed, which he claims made it nearly impossible for China to sell goods into the U.S. market. Trump describes the U.S. market as the largest and most important in the world. As a result of these tariffs, Trump says the U.S. essentially cut off trade with China (“went cold turkey”), and this had a devastating impact on the Chinese economy. He claims many factories in China shut down and there was significant unrest among the population.
Trump goes on to say that he was concerned about the situation—not for the U.S., but for China’s well-being—and decided to intervene. He says he quickly negotiated a deal with China to prevent the situation from getting worse. According to Trump, this agreement allowed China’s economy to stabilize and return to normal operations, which made everyone happy.
However, Trump then asserts that China has completely broken the terms of this agreement. He expresses disappointment, suggesting that despite his efforts to be “Mr. Nice Guy” and help China, they did not honor their commitments.
