President Trump: Truth Social Post
President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his strong support for the residents of Massapequa, Long Island, who are currently engaged in a passionate effort to preserve the “Massapequa Chiefs” logo and team name for their local schools and sports teams. President Trump aligned himself with the community, stating, “I agree with the people in Massapequa, Long Island, who are fighting furiously to keep the Massapequa Chiefs logo on their Teams and School.”
He criticized recent initiatives or mandates that would require the school to change its long-standing name and logo, calling such actions “ridiculous” and suggesting that they are, in fact, disrespectful to Native Americans, whom he referred to as “our great Indian population.” Trump argued that the use of the “Chiefs” name is not only a source of pride for the school but also forms a central part of its identity. He pointed out that both the local school board and the vast majority of people in the Massapequa area are united in their desire to retain the name, describing it as a community-wide demand.
President Trump questioned the logic of objecting to the use of the word “Chief,” referencing the professional football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, as an example of a prominent organization that continues to use the name without controversy. He rhetorically asked, “What could be wrong with using the name, ‘Chief’? I don’t see the Kansas City Chiefs changing their name anytime soon!”
To demonstrate his commitment to this cause, Trump announced that he is requesting the involvement of his Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, to advocate on behalf of the Massapequa community. He concluded his statement with a rallying cry, “LONG LIVE THE MASSAPEQUA CHIEFS!”
